Louis Oosthuizen is a 29 year old professional golf player who has been playing at the professional level since 2002. He has won several pro titles including European tours. . He is the founder of the Louis Oosthuizen Junior Golf Academy at Mossel Bay which he set up when he shot a score of 57.

Louis Oosthuizen is an exceptionally talented South African golfer who has been associated with PING  for quite some time now. Born on 19th October 1982 at Mossel Bay, South Africa and nicknamed Shrek, he is one of the world’s top ranked professional golfers.

Titles

He won several amateur golf titles before turning graduating to professional level in 2002.  Since he turned pro at the young age of 19, Louis has won several titles including some at the European Tour.

He has won 5 tournaments at the Sunshine Tour. In 2004, he topped the table at the Vodacom Origins of Golf Tour event at Arabella, South Africa. In 2007, he claimed the prestigious Dimension Data Pro-Am and Platinum Classic events. He also took home the Telkom PGA Championship trophy twice, first in 2007 and then again in 2008.

Oosthuizen, a member of the exclusive European Tour since 2004, won his first European Tour event in March 2010 at the Open de Andalucía de Golf  . He also won the Masters Par 3 Contest the same year.

The year 2011 was again a great year for him as he won the as won the Africa Open, his 3rd European Tour Title. In 2012, he successfully defended his Africa Open Tile. He also came agonizingly close to winning the 2012 Masters tournament but lost in a Playoff to Bubba Watson. However, he made history in the tournament as he hit an albatross on the second hole. This was only the fourth albatross in the history of Masters Tournament and is widely believed to be the first one to be televised.

He recorded his lowest ever round of 57 at the Mossel Bay Golf Club on 12th December 2012.

He is currently ranked 19th in the world Official World Golf Rankings and stands 7th in the race to Dubai.

Sponsorship

At the amateur level, Oosthuizen was sponsored for 3 years by charitable foundation of fellow golfer Ernie Els. His clubs are provided by PING, which include the Rapture V2 driver which is custom modified by him. Besides he also wears PING golf apparel at all tours.

Off-the-field

Louis Oosthuizen is married to Nel-Mare is the father of two daughters Jana and Sophia. He comes from a sports oriented family as his father and brother have both played tennis at the provincial level. He is the founder of the Louis Oosthuizen Junior Golf Academy at Mossel Bay which he set up when he shot a score of 57. He enjoys hunting and watching movies. He credits his success to great concentration and discipline.
