The latest in Ping’s G range of fairway woods the Ping G15 Fairway wood updates the hugely popular G10 model and shares many of the improvements seen in the Ping G15 driver. The G15 has an elongated head design which means the clubhead is longer from back to from to provide stability and forgiveness and increase the moment of inertia, or MOI. The G15 also features an external sole weight pad which redistributes weight at the bottom of the clubhead and helps move the centre of gravity lower and further back in the club to provide both a high launch rate and a very low spin rate. Ping have also introduced a new low profile design with the G15 fairway woods which is not only pleasing on the eye and inspires confidence but also helps to move the centre of gravity much lower in the clubhead. The Ping G15 Fairway wood is available with a TFC 149F or Aldila Serrano 75 Fairway shaft.
The Ping G15 fairway wood shares a lot in common with the G15 driver including the external sole weight pad and a slightly longer head design which Ping says increases the MOI compared to the G10. The biggest visual change is the low profile design that features a shallow face that further lowers the centre of gravity to help increase that MOI. In our tests the G15 fairway wood performed very well and the sound and feel at impact was much more solid than the G10. At address it looks great with the new alignment aid first used in the Rapture woods, which thankfully replaces the moon graphic from previous G fairways. Visually the changes to the Ping G15 are not as noticeable as the performance changes, which give a good strong flight that can be moved left and right. Whilst this club is aimed at all golfers we feel it is ideal for mid to high handicappers as the forgiveness and trajectory are excellent. For those who want a slightly lower flight then we would recommend trying out the excellent Ping i15 fairway wood.

The launch angle has been increased by a wider sole that also aids in forgiveness upon contact with the ground. They have engineered a higher MOI (moment of inertia) into these Ping Golf Clubs which gives you more distance and forgiveness.
They have also brought back the CTP or (custom tuning port) to produce more consistent ball speeds. Something else new for Ping golf clubs this year is their AWT (Ascending Weight Technology) in the shafts of their irons. Lighter long iron shafts create more speed and a higher trajectory, heavier shafts in the shorter irons create lower trajectory for optimal ball control.
By tweaking the total off-set of the longer irons they have made them very forgiving, while removing some offset in the shorter irons to increase control. As always the Ping golf club designers have pushed the envelope and presented players with a selection that are geared toward providing the best possible performance for a full gamut of playing abilities.
My Thoughts: The new G10 irons are very solid, long, straight, have great feel, and play as good as they look. If there were any doubt as to how good they are; these ping golf clubs are in the bags of several PGA, Senior PGA, and LPGA tour players.
When you first look at the new G10 driver you may think that there is very little about it that has changed other than the new paint job. You would be correct, to an extent. However, major changes in design and construction have gone into the new G10. They have tweaked the geometry so the face is taller. A change that has really improved the performance of this Ping Golf Club is how they have reallocated the weight distribution.
By carefully selecting areas of the crown and using thinner material for their construction they were able to distribute more weight lower and further back in the head. These subtle changes have increased the launch angle, reduced spin and raised the MOI. The results are superior forgiveness on off-center hits and increased distance from a great looking Ping Golf Club.
Ping Golf is ready with its next round of woods and irons: the G10 Metal Wood series includes driver, fairway woods and hybrids; plus there are the G10 Irons. And along with the G10, Ping is also releasing the i10 irons.

Ping G10 Drivers With a cast body and fully machined 6-4 titanium face, the Ping G10 Driver has a taller face and a deeper (front to back) crown than previous Ping drivers.

As with the driver, a G10 Draw version is also available. The draw bias is again achieved by moving the hosel forward, creating more offset, while moving the internal weight pad farther back and more toward the heel.
The standard Ping G10 fairway woods are available in lofts of 14, 15.5, 17, 18.5, 21.5 and 24.5 degrees. The Draw version comes in 15.5, 17, 18.5 and 21.5 degrees.
G10 Hybrids Six lofts designed to replace mid- and long irons are available for the Ping G10 Hybrids, which feature a sloped-crown design from 17-4 stainless steel.
Ping engineers have captured the hot face of the G10 and the solid sound and feel of the original Rapture and put it into the V2 package.By expanding the height of the face and elongating clubhead dimensions, Ping has enlarged the sweet spot on the clubface and provided a very hot face, providing tremendous ball velocity regardless of player skill level.
With a slightly elongated face profile and high-technology mix of titanium body with tungsten weights, the V2 capitalizes on the clubfitters’ holy grail of high launch, low spin. The Rapture V2 does this with performance and style. Dual Tungsten weights do the job of keeping weight low and deep in the head, to help get the ball airborne.
The first noticeable difference from the original Rapture driver is the racy lime green color on the shaft and the soleplate. But the changes aren’t merely cosmetic. In what Hollywood might call a plot twist, Ping has equipped the V2 with a super lightweight stock 939 shaft in L through X flexes. With a shaft weight of 47 grams and a 45.75-inch finished length, this makes the V2 one of the lightest and longest drivers on the market. Making a cameo in this sequel is the stock upgrade of a Mitsubishi Diamana Blueboard shaft. At 63 grams, this ultra-premium shaft lowers spin and launch for players who want a little beefier shaft than the 939.
